THE SLEEPING MUSE

This is a painting about surrender. The muse does not sleep from exhaustion; she sleeps from trust. Her bowed head, the closed eyes, the way the fabric envelops her entirely — all speak to a profound inner stillness that the outside world cannot disturb. In an age of noise, she chooses silence. 

The palette is deliberately restrained: a turbulent blue-grey ground, cool and atmospheric, throws the molten amber of the silk into sharp relief.
