MORNING LIGHT

There is a particular quality of light that exists only for a few minutes each morning — when the sun has just cleared the horizon and the world has not yet decided what kind of day it will be. 

The palette is built on warm raw sienna and yellow ochre grounds, layered in thin, luminous glazes that allow light to pass through the paint itself — mimicking the way morning light passes through linen. The shadows of the branches are rendered in cool taupe and muted olive, applied with fine, deliberate brushwork to preserve their delicacy against the warm ground.
